Professional Experience

Independent photography consultant, London, September 2001 – present

Services include advice and valuations, corporate and individual acquisitions and deacquisitions as well as coordinating photographic-based fundraising projects, including books, working with photographers and their estates.

Director, Michael Hoppen Gallery, London, September 2018 – March 2019

Responsible for gallery listings, organising art fairs, auctions, various gallery events and facilitating gallery sales for clients and photographers.

Co-Director, Norman Parkinson Archive, London, December 2005 – December 2017

Since 2005 have organised Parkinson’s photographs in over 60 photographic exhibitions worldwide, exhibited his work in all three major photography fairs every year [AIPAD, Paris Photo, PhotoLondon] introduced his photographs to important museum and private collections, produced books and catalogues and increased his exposure in the syndication market.

Christie's, London Head of Department, Photographs, January 2000 – September 2001

Responsible for general direction and strategy of the department, sales planning, attainment of budgets, business getting, client negotiation and valuations. Supervising internal department operations including staff appraisals, cataloguing, achievement of deadlines, advertising and marketing.

The Photographers’ Gallery, London, Print Sales Team Manager, November 1993 – November 1999

Director of the print sales operation at the gallery. Responsible for corporate, museum and individual fine photography print sales within The Photographers’ Gallery. In charge of initiating and organising exhibitions within the gallery and abroad.  Responsible for managing a staff of 4 people and devising and implementing department's annual budget.

Howard Greenberg Gallery, New York, Gallery Manager, October 1991 – September 1993

Administrative and management duties including the maintenance of gallery database, organising previews, finance activities (invoicing clients and suppliers) and assisting visitors and artists.

The Tenement Museum, New York, Museum Manager, October 1989 – September 1991

Co-ordinator for office. Administrative assistant to Director. Responsibilities also included fund raising, marketing, personnel management and liaising with Museum Board of Trustees.

Developed signage packages, feasibility studies and promotional material for architectural clients and in-house activities.
